Eligibility for UGC NET Dec. 2023
Candidates that are General/Unreserved/General-EWS and have obtained at least 55% in their Master’s program (without rounding).
You may also apply for this test if you are currently enrolled in a Master’s program or an equivalent program, have taken your qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination but are still awaiting results, or if your qualifying examinations have been postponed.
However, these candidates will only be admitted on a provisional basis and won’t be qualified for JRF awards or assistant professorships until they have earned a master’s degree or an equivalent degree with at least 55% of the possible points (or 50% of the possible points for candidates who fall under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, or third gender categories).
Such candidates will be disqualified if they fail to complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years of the date of the NET result with the required percentage of marks.
The same fee, age, and eligibility criteria for NET (i.e., JRF and Assistant Professor) relaxations accessible to SC/ ST/ PwD categories are also available to candidates who fall under the third gender group.
