UPSC CDS 2 Syllabus 2024
Code No. 01: ENGLISH
- The purpose of the question paper is to assess the applicants’ proficiency with the English language and their ability to use words in a workmanlike manner.
Code No. 02: GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
- General knowledge is the understanding of current affairs, as well as the scientific components of ordinary observation and experience, as may be expected of an educated individual who hasn’t specifically studied any scientific field.
- The exam will also include questions on general geography and Indian history, which candidates should be able to answer without further research.

ARITHMETIC
Number System:
- Real, rational, integer, and natural numbers. Basic operations: square roots, decimal fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Unitary technique, percentages, applications to simple and compound interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, variation, and time and distance as well as time and effort.
Elementary Number Theory
- An algorithm for division. Numbers that are prime and composite. Divisibility tests for 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11. numerous and contributing elements. Factorization Theorem. The Euclidean algorithm by H.C.F. and L.C.M. rules of logarithms, logarithmic tables, and logarithms to base 10.
ALGEBRA
- Fundamental Operations, basic components, The Remainder Theorem L.C.M., H.C.F., Quadratic equation solutions, polynomial theory, and the relationship between the roots and coefficients (only real roots to be addressed). Parallel linear equations with two unknowns: graphical and analytical solutions. Two-variable simultaneous linear equations and their solutions.
- Real-world scenarios resulting in two simultaneous linear equations, two-variable equations, or one-variable quadratic equations and their solutions. Define the language and notation. Rational expressions and conditional identities, Laws of indices.
TRIGONOMETRY

PERSONALITY AND INTELLIGENCE TEST
